Re: Travel CPAP Machine Questions

I travel globally for my job. I started out by traveling with my MSeries...that got old fast. I bought the PB GoodKnight 425 (biPAP). i actually found I like it a little better than my MSeries, it has better exhale relief - it actually responds when you are almost done inhaling, it doesn't wait for ...

I have the Resmed Mirage Activa and the nice thing about that mask is that you actually do not need to have it tight to make a good seal. Without the pressure on I fit the mask very loosely on my face. If I lean forward it is actually loose enough to not touch my face. The thing is the way the mask ...

Gumby, You asked what carrier I was on....it was United. And on top of this it wasn't the TSA that asked about the number of bags both were United employees. I did see where United is also allowing only one checked bag/person and charging $25 for a second checked bag. I will scan the United informat...

Bookbear,
Thanks so much. That helps. My travel is considerable for work, with most of it International. When I have transfers in Europe my bags don't typically make it. I have learned to pack light and carry on so I really need that 3rd carry on!

New TSA info? No more 3rd carry on?

I returned from a trip to California yesterday and was asked twice about my third bag. Both times I said it was a medical device. The second time the woman told me that as of May 5th. They would no longer allow a Medical Device as a third carry on it would be counted as one of the 2 allowable carry ...

I have been traveling a lot lately and have started global travel now. I didn't have any trouble with the extra bag on my last trip to Paris. I thought about using the machine for sleeping on the way over, but decided not to use it. I think I did fine since I was partially upright when I slept in bu...

In the first sleep study I had minimal stage 4 sleep, about a quarter of the time I should have had. During my titration study they indicated that I was in stage 4 for twice as long as is typical. They indicated that my body was so sleep deprived that when it finally got to the deep sleep it stayed ...

I think the other symptom that was a huge clue for me was feeling so fatigued that I couldn't function. If it goes on long enough the sleep deprivation becomes almost debilitating. I shudder to even thing about how foggy I was day in and day out. As I told my doc, I am a new person. Get over the doc...

Another Activa user here, I just bought the Shallow interface after using the Standard for about 3 months. Not sure which I like better. The Standard is definitely too big and sits far too low on my upper lip and the Shallow fits beautifully. But I think the Shallow might leak just a little more. Wi...

I am echoing others, it might be valuable to look at BiPAP with that pressure. I am at 14 and have BiPAP (14/11) and it has been successful. I don't think the change from exhale to inhale is enough to wake me (well I do feel soooo much better it must not wake me). You actually get into a rhythmic br...

What about BiPAP....have you tried that or asked your doc to prescribe that? I am at 14 and I have BiPAP so the exhale is 11.

It could be that your mask doesn't vent quick enough based on how quickly you exhale. I think BiPAP might be the step to try.

BGB, The Baking Soda is slightly alkaline so it will bring the pH up a bit in the water. The burning that some people feel might be that the water they use is slightly acidic. You tissues typically like to be normal or very sl. above. Your saliva on the other hand is sl. acidic. I think that might b...

Thanks HC. Good to hear that it is light and easy to use. I travel for work and am just getting tired of hauling around my 5+ lbs of Resp M. I guess I should get an extra hose with it. Good to know it is fairly rugged too. The website indicated that it uses Silverlinings data collection? Maybe I am ...
