Re: Distilled vs. tap water

Ah, its your water. As nasty as it is in NC, be grateful it does not smell of rocket fuel like Vegas or grow fungus overnight like mid south Florida or smell of rotten eggs like mid-illinois farm water. Before I agreed to live move where I live, I made sure the water from the tap was not only safe t...

Re: Best CPAP backup battery?

I have a nice sine wave inverter, 100 ft extension cord and fused battery clips. On loss of power I turn off the bipap humidifier heat and go connect the inverter on the car battery and extend extension cord from garage to the machine. If power is restored I plug my NOCO 10A charger on the car's bat...

Re: Advice appreciated for a newer user of CPAP(updated with OSCAR screencaps)

I don't let my machine minimum pressure be real low. I know what works for me and I have a minimum pressure of like 18ish. Its actually lower but at 18 I am quieter (snoring). I've been doing this a while and comfortable. Years ago, if you let the machine auto set pressure and a huge range, the mach...

Re: If you have a kind of big head then which full face mask are you using

Resmed activa lt. It's better for high pressure and not a full face. I use either large wide or large. Either or. They have a large size headgear (the strap) or normal size. At most stores you can specify large. My head is so big I was called charlie brown in boot camp. So, tiny, it should work for ...

Resmed S9 Parts (Heated hose, humidity chmber)

My S9 died and I am left with some speciality backup stuff (heated hose, humidity chamber). I figured some one may have a use for the spare parts. I will ship at cost to anyone on this board. https://peoria.craigslist.org/hab/d/cpap-bipap-supplies-resmed-s9/6607133648.html I ended up with a PR Syste...

Re: power supply / UPS

My plan is to use (either) the car battery and a powerful enough inverter. I have a 100 ft power cord set aside to run from the garage to the bedroom. I turn off the heat on the S9 heated humidifier and go to sleep. I got a couple nice alligator clips for the battery terminal and have the cable from...

Re: Feeling Worse Extremely Tired

While you work with them to find out if the cpap treatment is working, I wanted to tell you that you probably -will- feel worse for a while. After you have been having apnea for a long time you don't really feel pain anymore. You may look a wreck to all those around and act like you are drugged and ...

Re: Newbie with choosing a machine question

You are right to start the search for the best machine now. Don't buy until they provide the final results. The live of the machine should be 5-7 years; not 3. At least the better machines. Look at cpap.com and while waiting, whatever DME supply is near you. If your insurance is like mine, I can cho...

Re: Lost Power - The Plan Worked

Hi All. Best wishes to everyone for this holiday. I like it when a plan comes together. Do you remember "The A Team" Yes. Although Hannibal's scheme's rarely worked and explosions were part of the plan. For the details: On my cpap there is NO requirement for a pure sine wave inverter. Darn things ar...

Lost Power - The Plan Worked

I lost power a couple nights ago. I have an inexpensive 12Vdc/120Vac inverter, (wrapped in saran wrap to protect it with 4' fused near battery end) leads to alligator chips and 100' of extension cord. Got out the inverter, looks great. Connections tight. Hooked alligator clips to the battery termina...

Re: VERY DRY mouth

The room humidifier Julie mentioned is the best option. Set a good room humidifier in the room you sleep on high before you sleep. That with your Somnoaqua humidifier set to high also should make sleeping better. Some machines are better at providing more humid air than others. My older machine prov...

Re: Due for a sleep study. S8 vs. S9?

The S9 is the successor to the S8. If you search these boards enough you will find that the programming / machine response is about the same. On the other hand the S9 was thought of as better than the S8.

Your 5 year old S8 is about due to be replaced.

Re: cleaning or sanitizing humidifier

We have the same tank. I put some vinegar in the tank, let it sit a while and rinse a few times. I purchased a tank that I can run through the dishwasher but have not used it because my tank stays clean. Do purchase a backup tank as humidifier tanks fail and leak without much notice. The S9 Humidifi...

Re: OK, I give up where can I buy an S9 Autoset Data Card Reader

I'm using his (see below amazon link) cheap card reader. Cheaply built but It works. Short USB cord. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00109Y2DQ It may be your windows?.!? Just thinking. Can you read any SD card? Borrow a friends camera and try to read that SD card? My gut reaction is that resmed does not h...
