Re: Slept through the night for the first time!
Congratulations on having slept all night!! I, too, have gotten up nightly since childhood at least once and most often multiple times during the night. I wonder if this is the reason I hate camping so much -- since it is no fun getting up night when in a crowded tent. Unfortunately, cpap hasn't "cu...

Re: confused by the terms people use
AHI (Apnea Hypopnea Index) is the number of apneas and hypopneas per hour. Or an index for sleep apnea. 5-20 mild, 21-50 moderate, above 50 severe. The WIKI above can explain it better. Central apnea is where our brains misfire and we do not get the message to breathe. Complex sleep apnea is a combi...

Re: Trying to set ResMed Autoset ??
There isn't any reason why you can't tape your mouth -- but it you are having to use quite a bit of tape, you might try a chin strap or a ace bandage. I have heard of members using the ace bandage like a chin strap and then others use it around the head covering the lips. It seems that they can get ...

Sorry to hear about your stress. It seems that kids can do that to us.
I will be thinking of you and hope that the new doctor works out for you.

Re: Has no Insurance, Needs Machine!!!
May I ask why Iowa Care paid for two sleep studies but is refusing to help buy the equipment?
I know when you are talking government programs they are stupid rules, but seems dumb to pay for sleep studies then refuse to pay for treatment.

Re: Finding a DME--What questions to ask
I would ask which brand machines they handle. Are they willing to order a different brand machine if that is what you want/need? What is their mask policy? Can you try them for so long and return them if they aren't working? How many can you try like that? (Some are more lenient than others). Do the...

Re: Anyone have a nasal mask blow out?
DME should have offered a free replacement -- and people wonder why we are so skeptical of brick and mortar DMEs.
I would return their equipment and go elsewhere if at all possible.

Re: Have a cold and blocked nose - how to use my BiPAP ?
What kind of mask are you using? If it is a nasal mask or pillow system, try a neti-pot to open up your nose. If you try nasal sprays (over the counter such as Afrin) be careful as they can cause rebound effect, making things worse instead of better after a few days. Ocean Spray or something similar...

Re: An interest in an S8 Auto?
Hey I use "used" machines. Nothing to quibble about in my opinion. I have insurance but seldom meet my deductible and so by the time machines/supplies eat the deductible, the copays, etc. not to mention the headache of dealing with the brick and mortar DME's in this town -- much simpler and easier t...

Re: Cpap machines s8 ?
The S8 card readers can be found on eBay anywhere from $75.00 to $99.00. I know this seems outrageous, but I was able to get an S8 Autoset II last year for a bargain and although the S9's were out, they were out of my price range. I was able to pick up the S8 machine, waited a few weeks then picked ...

Re: Average hours you sleep ??
I average 9 hours but like it better if it is closer to 10. If I get less than 8 I am unbearable!! Our bedtime growing up was 9 p.m. and up at 7 a.m. Even as teens if we were home, mom expected us to be in bed by 9 p.m. and it wasn't a pretty sight if you got her stirred up so don't know if that is ...

Re: ResMed S9 Elite EPR w/H5i CPAP For Sale $375 *Free Shipping*
She has posted this before -- and apparently she only joined to try to sell her machine.
I suggest craigslist or a local ad might be a better choice to advertise it since it has been posted prior without takers.
