Re: What is the best Auto CPAP machine
Not everyone keeps their mask on when they are having insomnia -- the advice I've always read is to get out of bed and do something quiet like reading. Sometimes I don't get back to sleep or I take a sleeping pill and forget to put my mask back on. Once in awhile I put my mask on and go to sleep but...

Re: Interesting and informative O2 recording
Murray, Thank you for your detailed and very informative post! You've obviously "been there" and your advice seems quite sound to me. Even though my sleep apnea has improved since weight loss, I still "love my machine"! I have no intention of ever going off it unless they come up with a better solut...

Re: Interesting and informative O2 recording
Hmmmm - good point, Papit -- and also pulse rate didn't really spike up with those desats. It's still something to watch, IMHO, to make sure it isn't a regular thing.

Re: Interesting and informative O2 recording
That's a good reason to wear your mask. Mine has been looking like that lately but from a baseline of 88-90, and no events recorded! Leaks are worse too so I'm hoping it's due to tree pollen and will subside soon. Fingers crossed. Hi Liz, I hope it will subside soon, too! Even though I've lost a go...

Re: Interesting and informative O2 recording
Dr Pepper, When I first looked at your post I didn't see that desat that went down to 70%. That is definitely bad! The rest of it was passable but I would be concerned with that 70%. Think about it this way: low o2 sat = no organs in the body are getting enough oxygen. That can wreck all kinds of ha...

Re: CMS 50F Oxmimeter
I think I must have the cms50e ... It has the clamshell finger piece. I haven't had any problems with discomfort with this one.

Re: Resmed S9 AUTO vs Respironics REMStar Series 60 AUTO
I don't get that sound with the S9....but for me the difference is in the algorithms. I previously had the M series auto and the algorithm didn't work well for me. If I ran it in APAP mode, my ahi would climb along with the pressure. Cpap mode was ok. Then I went to Sandman auto and that worked real...

Yep -- you've got it! Your desalts aren't awful but they are not where you would want them to be, IMHO.

Re: sleepyhead and pulse oximeters
Lisa, I had trouble with finger discomfort with a different, more expensive brand but have been very happy with my cms50 e or f pulseox. (can't remember which it is!). You're the only one who can really decide whether to go for a new one or not. Besides the discomfort, do the readings seem reasonabl...

Re: Where do most people put the hose?
Last fall I started running the hose from my nightstand directly to my bed around my upper arm and pull the slack under the covers. I have a Swift FX so the hose has that extra piece of tubing. I have the ResMed cover over the rest of the hose and if I sleep on the hose it doesn't collapse. Keeps it...

Re: What is the best Auto CPAP machine
There are third party heated hoses--Aussie Hose is one. They are said to work with most machines--if not all. Yes, I've used the Aussie heated hose -- loved it! I had trouble with Respironics M series auto algorithm. If I set top pressure too high, I would get clusters of apneas. If too low, AHI wo...

Re: What is the best Auto CPAP machine
Hi, No matter which machine, some will love it and others hate it! I'd decide on characteristics (eg APAP vs cpap, humidifier, price, etc). Read reviews but maintain some healthy skepticism. A machine that's the cat's meow for one can be very sub-optimal for another. If there were one "best", there ...

Re: cpap.com customer service
It sounds like UncleBill had a poor experience. That happens and I don't blame him for not wanting another bite of the apple. Personally I'm happy with cpap.com but no company is going to leave everyone happy. I wouldn't want to see us jump on people for not agreeing (I'm not saying that's happening...

Re: Resmed is refusing to fix my broken auto-pap machine
Mindy...To answer your question first......They (Resmed has replaced the whole humidifier, not just the plastic that holds the water. I am waiting to get my unit back from them with the third humidifier that they said they were sending to me. When I do get it back I intend to try all of the suggest...
