In mid 2006, just before getting diagnosed with severe sleep apnea I had a doctor tell me point blank that I was a hypochondriac. He said there was NO way that I was having all those symptoms. That list turned out to be almost every symptom of sleep apnea. Ouch, I had a similar experience ... one o...

I've only had one bout with a kidney stone so far, back when I was 22 or so. It completely blocked off my right ureter and caused my kidney to go into "colic." Now that was fun ... I thought I was dying for sure. Made labor pains pale in comparison. I didn't have health insurance, so they made me pa...

Ok, thanks a lot RG, I think I might have it licked. I'm glad to know it's a good mask ... seemed like I could side sleep in it pretty comfortably. Is it wrong to be so excited about trying new cpap equipment?

Question about comforlite 2

I just received my new Comfortlite 2 from our dear hosts and I have it all assembled. My problem is that it says to attach it to my cpap hose ... but cpap hose end is NOTHING like what would be needed to hook to this mask. I'm currently using a UMFF, and the connector for it is hard plastic with a l...

Anyone who tries to take my cpap away is going to end up on a missing persons list somewhere.

It's certainly made a huge difference to me ... I haven't been this healthy and productive in over 10 years at least.

Re: Call For Feedback: CPAPAuction.com Improvement Suggestio

I had a similar situation. I told the sleep lab they would hear from my lawyer who has better knowledge of HIPPA law than they did. It worked! BTW, I don't have a lawyer.
Yeah, if that sucker isn't in my mailbox when I get home from work, they are getting the (nonexistant) lawyer letter fr...

Re: Call For Feedback: CPAPAuction.com Improvement Suggestio

I'd appreciate your two cents in free form or using the following questions as a guideline. 1. I don't use CPAPAuction now because... I can't bid because the sleep center will not give me a copy of my prescription ... got the letter of medical necessity, the sleep report, and every other miscellane...

Susan, I'm sure there are a lot of situations where the letter would be needed.....I just rattled off a couple that came to my mind from some examples I've read about on the forum. Good luck. Den Oh, totally understood Wulfman ... I just thought it was ironic that the insurance company took it upon...
My understanding of the "letter of medical necessity" is for the situations in which there is some dispute with the insurance providers and/or the DMEs. For example, if the doctor prescribes an Auto or a Bi-PAP/Bi-level (or other specialized machine), so as to override the standa...

Thanks RosemaryB, that sounds hopeful. I'm going to try to borrow enough $$ from my mother-in-law to buy a cpap from our hosts here and was getting frustrated with my lack of progress in getting what looked like an rx. Sometimes it seems like the whole world is against the sleepy folks.

I'm interested in hearing how you do with less humidity for a few days ... that's what I immediately thought of. I can't even tolerate the passover humidifier without it causes the ache in the chest ... but then I live in a coastal swamp. Even in the middle of an extended drought the humidity is out...

Letter of Medical Necessity

Is it the same as an xpap prescription? I've requested my prescription from the sleep center twice, and both times I've been sent my sleep study and a letter of medical necessity. Nothing that looked a a prescription per se. The letter has all the info on it, including the doc's signature, but no pr...

I use the UMFF mask also, and I'm a side sleeper. Once I got past the irritation of wearing a mask period, it suited me just fine. I just wish it was about a 1/2" smaller.
