Re: water in my hose keeps me up please help
The inexpensive heated hose solution is to put a 15 watt Zoo Med Repti heat cable in a straight line under a hose cover. It is the perfect length for a six foot hose. Heat is low enough (as long as you use only the 15 watt) that you can leave it on 24/7 without damage to the hose. Eliminates all rai...

Re: OT: Did the pastor handle the situation properly?
Too bad the police didn't take him to an ER. When the police were there Bill had already gone, avoiding the authorities with help from his enabling friend, the mother. Can't detain a person who isn't there. Mom and Sally tried to give Bill a chocolate treat along with some orange juice to help him....

Re: Comments wanted about the Hose Buddy
I use both the the CozyHose BOSS and the Hose Buddy depending on the situation. The BOSS automatically adjusts the tension, keeping the hose above me while allowing for plenty of movement, so I use one permanently installed at home. I take a second BOSS and the Buddy on the road and use the Buddy wh...

Re: I triple dog dare you...
...I can make my tube do that on my Opus 360 mask, but I couldn't tolerate it. I just let mine hang. This is the only mask I've tried so far. I didn't just route the tube upward, I added a hard plastic downtube that is anchored tightly at the forehead for stability. The lower straps are loose, ala ...

Re: I get sinus/nasal congestion when i don't use the cpap!
I have always used nasal pillows, but initially I also bought a full face mask in case of colds or stuffy nose. Never had to use it. In five years of treatment I have never had a stuffy nose or cold. I have allergies, but they don't bother me anymore either. Sometimes I have a runny nose in the morn...

Re: Please help me find reason for vertigo
I suffered from occasional severe vertigo for years with no successful diagnosis as to the cause. I suspected blood sugar, blood pressure and sinus allergies but could never establish a pattern from any of those. After five years of effective treatment of my apnea without a single reoccurrence of ve...

Re: Gentle ways to tape?
Denture cream never worked for me. Messy, foul tasting, hard to use consistent amount, hard to clean off. The Poligrip strips just taste like cardboard and are always the right amount and the same stickiness once you learn the correct amount of moisture (I would just put it in my mouth and suck it f...

Re: Gentle ways to tape?
Wait, so how/where did you apply the denture strips? Between your top and bottom lips, or between your top and bottom teeth? Don't worry I won't try this at home, I obviously don't know what I'm doing yet! This is probably where I first read about it, posted right before I started cpap. (A belated ...

Re: Gentle ways to tape?
The gentlest (and safest) way to tape isn't with tape, it's using denture strips. Strong enough to hold against inadvertant lip parting while weak enough to easily open your mouth, without touching any facial skin except your lips. Less of a use of force, more of a gentle persuasion that will eventu...

Re: Help me keep my mouth shut? (chin strap/mask advice needed)
Ultimately the long term solution is to retrain your mouth. Do a search on "Poligrip denture strips" and try using them to keep your mouth shut. It just becomes one more small part of your nightly routine. Then park your tongue between your teeth as you fall asleep, even if it takes biting down ligh...

Re: Aloha mask issues
While I find the aloha pillows uncomfortable, otherwise it was the best "right out of the box" mask for me, light and relatively stable. On considering modifications (as usual) I realized that the top strap lifted the stiff side support pieces off of the top of my ears and actually reduced stability...

Re: CPAP and motorcycles...
I did 8000 miles in thirty days (coast to coast and back again) killing a deer along the way. Totaled the bike (cosmetic damage only) and the bipap still works fine almost two years later. Of course it wasn't a Harley but a flat-six Honda, which rides as smooth as a car, but it still handled all the...
