Yea I wasnt smart enough to even get a sleep study done. I have a high deductible insurance so i took the matter in my own hands. Better than ignoring it... May I ask, then, how do you know for certain you have sleep apnea? Well had many who slept in the same room as me that i "choke" in my sleep. ...

After ebay started removing mask postings, I started seeing posts on this forum that prescriptions were required for masks, and I was doubtful. After all, cpap.com doesn't require them. I figured that the ebay thing was making people assume that something had changed. So I went to the FDA web site, ...

Oooh, yea, they better reconsider that distilled water in the hands of untrained medical professionals. One could drown, you know.

I just got the standard today to try. I was really doubtful about the headgear because, yes, it is large, but I may have come up with something to make it work. Don't know for sure, but it feels much better on trial. I took the bottom straps all the way out, adjusted the top for a good fit, took th...

The Ultimate Chin Strap

I was surfing the net, looking for chin strap options, and found the following:

Got a good chuckle out of that. Certainly not comfortable, but I dare anyone to mouth breath with that thing on!

I was a little less satisfied with the clinician manual I purchased. It was a printed out PDF of the manual (the listing didn't specify this), and I had to wait almost two weeks from the purchase date to get it (payment cleared, then he sent it via media mail rather than emailing the PDF file). Can...

If I had to pick one mask as an all-around most likely to fit/work, without having a chance to try them out, I'd start with the Activa. It's really good at maintaining a seal even if you move around. Another thing you might try is using the sizing tool at cpap.com and see what that recommends. Best ...

Question for Simplicity fans

I was checking out the Simplicity today at cpap.com, and when I put my measurements into the sizing tool, it came back that the Simplicity wouldn't be good for me. I found that strange since there isn't anything particularly unusual about my facial "geometry" as far as I know. Average size face and ...

EVERYONE loves cpap.com!

So I called my insurance company again today. I still haven't given up on trying to get them to pay for the mask they call "supplies" that are not covered (even though someone there told me before I got it that it would be covered). I had the nicest CSR. She totally agreed that it was stupid that th...

I agree with most of the comments, but am curious about the leak rate responses. The S8 Elite manual says that treatment could be compromised if the leak rate is over 0.40 L/s, and someone here (Slinky maybe?) said she was happy if her S8 leak rate was under 0.30. I typically get around 0.26 L/s, th...

Just like everything else on ebay, there are good ebayers and bad (both in the buyer and seller categories). I've bought two masks on ebay, and have been very happy (and lucky) with the transactions. I was a little less satisfied with the clinician manual I purchased. It was a printed out PDF of the...

[quote="tillymarigold"]My insurance company's stupid policy is that patients with UARS are considered to not need treatment. Period. I have to pay everything out of pocket until I someday have another sleep study (also out of pocket) that shows an AHI above 5. Not sure if I'm hoping that day will co...
