I agree with your assessment of Control III being more for mask sharing purposes. It might be helpful (though I honestly wouldn't bother myself) if you had a cold and wanted to make sure you had killed the cold germs. I have sensitive skin as well, and I use Johnson's baby shampoo (lavendar). Genera...

I have to say that if I found myself in that situation, I'd just do without and know I was going to feel like doo the next day. The way I figure it, even with CPAP, sleeping in an airport isn't going to leave me feeling bright and shiny, so why bother trying.

Typically when you sign up for something that requires matching of roommates, the organizers will ask if there are any special considerations they should take into account when matching (e.g., smoker, night owl, early bird). You should indicate on your registration that you use CPAP, and with luck, ...

That would rock! Can't wear a t-shirt to work, but could hang a sign on my office door!

Tried the F&P 432 for the first time last night. The first thing I noticed is that the cushiony thing was pinching my nose something fierce. I saw where someone trimmed the foam, and I might give that a shot, but not until I'm certain I'm going to keep the mask. Anyway, once I removed the offending ...

I didn't see anything that mentioned this in any of the coverage policy documents I found.

Grrrrr. Now I can't get the link to work! Try this.....

Go to http://www.cms.hhs.gov/mcd/
Click on "search" (left side)
In Step 1, check Local Coverage
In Step 2, select your state
Check "keyword", type in "continuous positive", and check "title"
Click "search now"
The complete policy is L11528.

Jackpot...finally found it. Yes, the new hose replacement is every three months. This document does indicate that it was revised effective 7/1/07. You'll note that this document lists specific states. It appears that there are two other documents posted that cover the remainder of the states, but al...

That's what I was looking for when I found the other info I posted. I'll keep looking, though. The CMS web site is definitely not user friendly!

Up in CT, we've had just the opposite. The past few days have been in high 60s to low 70s and cloudy. Feeling like we're getting cheated out of the last couple of summer weeks. Supposed to get nicer for the weekend, though.

I think you might be slightly misreading, Slinky. The way I read this, if one were to continue renting the unit, then the DME could charge Medicare for service/maintenance even if none was done. Yes, that part stinks that they can bill for services not rendered, but the good news I see here is that ...

Medicare info

I was looking for something on the Medicare web site today, and came across some information that may be useful to those of you who have their cpap through Medicare. This is taken from the Federal Register, Vol. 71, No. 18 (January 27, 2006) and references 42 CFR Part 414. (CR = capped rental). Key ...

I think, and I hope that they are no longer designing masks with those ports.
Why would you hope that? A mask with these ports can be used by anyone, including those who need O2 supplementation.

My question is, what if this person has CSA as opposed to OSA?? When we start recocomending that someone try a CPAP machine without consulting a doctor we are getting on dangerous ground and it wouldn't suprise me if our host shut the site down due to liability questions. Oceanpearl, I agree that o...
