Re: Oooooops! Will my machine be ok??

Ok, here's what I did. I found a mission style side table. It has some slats on the side that you can thread your hose through. The machine goes on the shelf which is not on top of the table. It did the trick. Here's a photo similar to the one I got from Target. Slightly different but you can get th...

Re: UPDATE: My new backup plan for power outages. . .

Thanks, Roster. I will check this out. I just found this message, but better late than never. If I can side sleep, it’s better, but I’ve had some neck problems and back sleeping is best right now. It’s a work in progress as always with sleep apnea treatment. RosemaryB, Good to have you back and happ...

Re: UPDATE: My new backup plan for power outages. . .

I just logged in and replied to someone about sleep appliances and thought I'd paste that reply here for continuity's sake. Now that I've had some experience with the dental devices, these are my conclusions: I have moderate osa. I've had two dental appliances. Both times the dentists told me that m...

Re: Twin Cities News Segment - Diagnosis and Dental Appliance

I have moderate osa. I've had two dental appliances. Both times the dentists told me that my insurance would pay for it. Both times I had big out of pocket expenses. The second time they paid a small portion, the first time, nada. I even called the ins company in advance the second time to make sure...

New machine advice? Repsironics? software?

Hi All, I haven't been around for some time, so have lost touch. It's wonderful to see the forum flourishing. I'm looking to replace my old respironics Remstar "tank" with a new respironics machine. I know some things may have changed, but I'm assuming that Respironics and Resmed are still the top t...

Re: Frequent trips to the bathroom at night, ends with CPAP?

Yep, I used to get up at least 2 times a night. I sleep straight through now. I got my mom on the cpap, too. Same thing for her, though she's in her mid 80's. She may get up once, but used to get up frequently. We all thought this was due to the aging process. Not at all.

Re: Cpap makes me fart and burp

I've used my cpap for more than 5 years. The night after my sleep study I was glad to have an office with a door that closed. Unbelievable, really! And painful, too. I kept the door closed, believe me Now, I never notice anything. It was never as bad as that first night, but for a while I got up ext...

Re: New OSA Treatment Option

Clever AF joke, but I am afraid that plastic surgeons might pick up on the idea. The main problem with this would be that insurance does not pay for plastic surgery. But they might do it as a covered benefit as a part of deviated septum work.

Re: Discussion of Small Jaws as Cause of Obstructive Sleep Apnea

RosemaryB, Next time you get a sleep study, look for a lab that uses a nasal/oral transducer. I don't think the balloon is the most modern testing agent for this syndrome. If you are looking at UARS, you should read the thread about the teleseminar by Dr, Avram Gold and listen to the mp3 that is pr...

Re: UPDATE: My new backup plan for power outages. . .

I haven't been on the forum for ages, but thought I should update about mandibular advancement devices. I posted some of this on the thread about orthodontic devices by rooster w/sock knitster reporting on her experiences. The sleep study showed good results but there was no supine sleep (on my back...

Wow, Jen! I haven't visited cpaptalk for ages and don't have much time now, but mainly have read this thread. I'm glad to hear that you are doing something that has so much promise! Rooster, thanks for starting this thread! Great information by you, Jen, and others. Back along the way I was very int...

Re: UPDATE: My new backup plan for power outages. . .

Rosemary, I'm just trying to clarify this update. You're now sleeping exclusively with the TAP, no cpap? Your study results are enviable!!!!! This is very encouraging!!!!!! Huggers, B. Thanks, Babette! I am indeed happy with it. I was not willing to use only the TAP until I got my results, which wa...

Re: UPDATE: My new backup plan for power outages. . .

WOO HOO! I just heard back from my doctor and my AHI using the device during the sleep study was 3.7. My oxygen levels stayed above 92% the whole night. I don't know much more, though she is sending me the doctor's report. I will also be getting the hypnogram once I can give them the release of info...
