FWIW...my encouragement to others who are struggling

Going on about two months of therapy, and it really does get better. I don’t think that anything I’m going to write here is new, or that I’ve gone through anything that others have already gone through. But, just want to add a word of encouragement for all you out there who have been struggling like...

Hi gg, welcome!

This sight has helped me so much I couldn't even begin to tell you. Any questions, just ask and chances are someone will have an answer. Might I suggest you fill out the profile and list your equipment...

Lee Lee, I have had the very same thing happen a couple of times in the past couple of weeks, and it happens on nights where, like you said, one nostril is completely blocked. Over the 2 months I've been doing this, I've come to find that my best sleep comes with my Swift and taping, but...this is n...

From my limited personal experience, I would tend to relate to being on your back more. My AHI rockets up when I am on my back.

Brackstone, I think a Vpap is just a straight bi-level, if what you have (or are getting) auto titrates, then you have a Vpap auto. Vpap does not automatically equal apap, unless it is an auto, in which case it is an auto-vpap. If bpap equals apap, then reverse logic would tell us that apap equals b...

I'm certainly no authority, but I do believe they both refer to a "bi-level" positive air pressure as opposed to a cpap (constant positive air pressure). I think bipap and vpap are registered trademark name by the makers of bipaps. Bipap is Respronics and Vpap is RedMed.

One step forward, two steps back, current cpap dance

I feel like I’m going backwards here on the ol’ therapy. I’m sure it’s a common problem, but when I roll over at night, even if I don’t mess up my seal, I wake up. I’ve routed hose all over to try and minimize that, it’s not a problem. I think I just wake up because I feel the mask. I roll over, I w...

TWolf I've been using the hybrid, and I have a goatee. I have no problem getting a good seal...keeping a good seal through the night is another thing, but that is more a problem with turning over and such, not facial hair. My two cents is that, don't worry about the moustache bothering prohibiting a...

It happens in all types of insurance. Years ago, I had to get my vehicle's windshield replaced. First place I called asked if it was covered by insurance, I said yes, they quoted me nearly $600, of which I would have paid a $500 deductable. On the advice from a co-worker, I called a second place, wh...

First couple of nights with the Hybrid I did not like the way the air seemed to blow directly at my mouth, now I am used to it and it doesn't bother me. My setting in not as high as your's nitro, so it must seem even worse to you. It's taken me about three weeks to really figure out the Hybrid. Most...

Mecocosm I think that might be the theory of the purpose of the chin flap on the Hybrid, but... Living on the edge as I do, I removed the flap from the medium oral piece last night to see what effect it might have. For me, it was a good move. I had switched back and forth between the large and mediu...

That's a good question, Nathan, I experience the same thing at times. I started out with the Swift, and I have no problem with leaks, as long as I tape! The Hybrid, I do have a tougher time with leaks, but those nights where I get a good fit and seal, the sleep seems better even though it's not refl...

What happens when you mouth does open during the night. I would assume that it affects your therapy, but I don't know exactly how. The purpose of the air pressure is to keep your airways open, if the air is going in your nose, and your mouth is closed, the pressure will build in your throat and kee...

In your best grumpy/testy manner, just glare at them and say "cause I'm tired of pretending I'm a d*** innertube every night" and let them draw their own conclusions. Or, on that same line, tell them you had to have your PSI checked, of course, then they'll be thinking you are having prostate troubl...
