How can you tell a Central From an Obstructive Apnea
I have been using a Resmed S8 Elite for the past five years along with the Optilife mask and taping my mouth. Had been on a setting of 9 with EPR of 3. I have gained 25 pounds in the past 3 years and have started getting that sleepy tired feeling in the daytime. Went to the sleep clinic and the guy ...

Leak Rates
Like has been stated, the ResMed machines automatically account for the calibrated mask vent rate and any leakage shown on your leakage graph is due to mask leaks or mouth leaks. I use an optilife mask, which normally does not leak at all unless I get really active in rolling around. My typical nigh...

Software
ablong, I am with you. If I feel that I need it for health purposes and can't get it because of some arbitrary restriction by the manufacturer on WHOM it can be sold to, then I WILL get it. I purchased the ResMed software I need, but could get it if necessary some other way. I have yet to find any s...

For Sure, you Can't Quit
Mth, I feel for you, man. Like you said, it's now not a choice of quitting. You just got to keep on till you get something that works. My best friend is an ex-Marine, so I don't hold that against ya! (being retired Air Force, myself) Ha! Ha!. I know all about being told, "Its all in your head". I ca...

Snores
It it was me, I wouldn't worry about it. Of course, my ResMed software doesn't log snores. If it keeps happening, then I would be curious enough to find out why it is happening. Snoring isn't necessarily diagnostic of an apnea event, but it IS an indicator.

What Happens if You Take a Night Off?
If you have simple OSA with no other serious health complications? It doesn't take a veteran to answer this. Just someone with average intelligence. The answer: For all practical purposes; NOTHING! BUT: Why on earth would you WANT to take a night off? I have been on the "hose" for three months now, ...

Wrong Size Pillow
zhotster,
I got your pillow today, but it's the wrong size. I agreed to trade a small for a large. You sent me a medium.

There are an almost infinite number of things to be worried and fearful about. If you tend to be fearful, just sit on your throne (toilet stool) with the sunlight streaming thru that little window and look at all of the dust floating in the air in that sunbeam when you pull the toilet paper roll! If...

Six Myths
All of the six except the first seem to be obvious based on an intelligent observation of life around us. The first is not obvious to me. The Pancreas is the organ that produces all of the insulin that the body uses. How it is affected by poor sleep is uncertain to me without seeing some proofs. All...

CPAP/Athletics
It should be easy to prove or disprove some of the Ideas you have mentioned concerning using CPAP while doing exercise by using a recording oximeter with and without the CPAP during the same type and duration of exercise. My suspicion is that there would be little or no benefit from using the CPAP, ...

Pet Food Recall
Snoredog's search results seem odd. I googled "diamond pet food recall" and got a hit at the very top of the first page. Must have been a recent addition to the search list. Another tragedy to these pet deaths is that the liability for killing someone's pet is infinitely smaller than the value of th...
