Informative website for newbies and others

In my research on sleep apnea, sleep clinics and DMS's I ran across this website that gives a lot of helpful information on what sleep apnea is, on diagnosis, and on options for treatment.

My md has been really good about writting perscriptions for anything I have needed and I have gone from straight c-pap to vpap with lots of problems inbetween. My pressure is 20 and the DMS people started me off with their cheapest machine and mask (I found out later). I kept pushing and complaining...

I'm surprised no one else is posting on this because in almost every post subject I find someone upset with sleep lab people or DMSs. Is there proof that DMSs are padding their pockets at our expense? Has a study been done on this? I am not on anyones side I just am very curious to know.

Is this a recent thing? I have just been diagnosed since February this year and when I started researching and joining forums I started running across this. I even found there to be some animosity between my sleep clinic people and my DMS!

I am a 54 year ole female who is 5'2 inches and I weigh 220 lbs. I have lost 30 lbs in the last 2 years and I am now struggling to get below the 220 mark. My body is resisting. I work out at a gym called Curves and I try to walk at least a mile a couple of days a week and I eat healthy. I have lost ...

Symptom #1 - Sometimes I wake up in the morning and I have a dull ache in my chest. It lasts for a couple of hours and then goes away. I have had this symptom a few times after I started c-pap I think it is because of the high pressure, mine is 20, I think it was my lungs getting use to so much air....

My medical supple person, who also uses cpap himself, told me to just soak mask and hose in 1 part vinegar to 3 parts water for 20 minutes then rinse and dry.

I have only been using the bipap for about a week. It took two months to convince my doctor that I needed one because I was having problems with bloating and feeling very uncomfortable. That is slowly going away not, thank goodness.

How many?

I am curious to how many people on this forum have to use a pressure of 18 or higher? I have to use the pressure of 20 and went to a bi-level that ramps down to 10 on breathing out but I still feel the resistance. Because of allergys and asthma I have to use a full face mask which I can deal with. A...

High Pressure

Hi I am new to cpap . I have just been using it for a couple of months. I started out with a nasal mask that pumped up to seal but my nose got really congested and I had to quit. I also am a mouth breather. I next tried the breeze with the nose pillows and a chin strap. It was good for a bit then my...
