Re: Choices - Remstar or Resmed

If you want a lower AHI choose the remstar. Of course it doesn't mean you will actually be getting better treatment but you won't feel so bad when others on this site talk about having a low AHI if you get the remstar.. ..because yours will be less than half as much as it will be with the resmed...i...

Re: Comparison Resmed S8 AutoSet II vs Remstar M Series

I don't want to get in the middle of this cat and dog fight but I offer this observation. My AHI on resmed averaged 5.3 over the last two years. My first AHI on the remstar m series auto was 1.9...that's more than 2 times lower than my very LOWEST AHI on the resmed over a 2.5 year period. The two mac...

Re: GERD and Sleep Position

A conundrum of sorts....left side best for gerd and right side best for aerophlagia. Things that will help...move your dinner time up....eat at 5 PM if you go to bed at 10 PM. Eat your big meal at noon and then a light meal at dinner....no steaks for dinner. Take a half a tablet of ranitidine an hou...

put the mask on and watch TV without hooking it up to the machine. You will get used to it.

Re: My pressure needs keep changing... HELP

You can change pressure settings with cpap just as well as you can with apap. Apap is overrated in my view.

Re: I want my life back....

I am amazed at how much trouble I had the first six months with a mask and leakage. Now I never seem to have any trouble. I just think it goes with the territory. I have an apap machine but find I get better treatment putting it on cpap...as do many others so I wouldn't worry about not having an apa...

Re: CPAP Plateau

My experience is the same as yours regarding low to zero AHI for the first hour or two and then jumps up the last 2-4 hours. I don't know what the answer is for HI. I get about the same HI at a pressure of 12 as I do at 8 so raising the pressure does not seem to effect my HI significantly. I have be...

Re: Acceptable AHI Rate??

Lower is not always better for me. Sometimes I feel better with an AHI of 6 and an AI of 1.5 than I do with an AHI of 3 and an AI of .3. For me it all depends on whether or not I get in a deep sleep during the night..0r more specifically early in the morning my numbers go up if I get in a deep sleep...

Re: OT: OBAMA SOAKS THE RICH: CHURCHES, DAY CARE, HOMELESS SHELT

I think someone here needs to check american history. The progressive tax...where the wealthier are taxed at a higher rate than those who make less.... code started in the 1800s. The wealthy used to be taxed at a 75% rate..far higher than Obama is suggesting. Actually he is just returning us to the ...

Re: Relevance of 95% pressure

With a setting of 8-14 you could be spending 84% at 8 and 1% each at 9,10,11,12,13,14. With my range of 6-13, I normally run an avg pressure of 6.9 but 90% of 8.8. The pressure on the software is graphed out so one can tell how long one is at a pressure. In my case the line stays pretty flat at 8 f...

Would perhaps the flow limitations indicate too shallow of breathing so as to not be getting enough air or oxygen?

Re: 4 years on CPAP, and still dealing with sleep hygiene issues

Go to bed at the same time every night you dummy. Now if you were working a 16 hours a day I might feel sorry...but it's pure laziness to just sit on your butt and not go to bed. I know..I have done the same thing many times. I understand...as you do...though that if I am tired it's no ones fault bu...
