Desperate for Encore Pro Help!
I posted a couple of weeks back but got no replies. Long time CPAPtalk.com user, back after a 3 year break from my machine courtesy of weight loss (but my body has other ideas, courtesy of age). As you can see from my signature, I'm on somewhat older equipment. I took good care of my toys while out ...

Back in APAP-Land...
After having weight loss surgery and dropping 200 lbs, I no longer needed to use my APAP. Well, there's weight, then there's genetics and AGE! I recently re-started with my precious Remstar (I so did NOT get rid of it), and I am already feeling better for it. But I'm running in circles trying to fig...

A good study would have asked you to sleep on all sides. And there's no guarantee that even if you are mostly a side sleeper, you won't move to your back some nights. After all, you are unconscious! I'd be hesitant to stop without a bit more quantitative data considering the risks. Not that I wouldn...

Welcome aboard! It's a interesting ride, to say the least, but you can do just fine without all the bells and whistles. Some of us are just hardcore geeks. I'm not sure if you have your machine with you on vacation, but if you do, the most important thing you can do for yourself is USE YOUR CPAP. Ev...

Oh, thanks for the warnings - everyone here always look out for everyone! But I know it's a CPAP not an APAP. In fact, I'm the one who chose the model independent of the DME. My insurance won't cover an APAP at all, so I'm trying to get the lesser machine with coverage first. If that fails, then I'l...

Positive DME/Doc News
Because it's a novel concept and should be shared: My relatively new sleep doc did not even blink when I asked him to write me a scrip for a new CPAP so I could get one that uses software and lets me track data myself. In fact, he even wrote it for APAP to make sure (pardon me while I get back up of...

I just tried the new foam cheek pads Respironics released for the ComfortCurve and found no major difference between them and the standard silicon cheekpads. They are a tiny bit more breathable against my sensitive cheek skin, so I am not as redfaced in the morning, but I still stand by the mods you...

If your hair is long enough, try putting your hair into a ponytail or two tiny pigtails. I use the Scunci "No Damage" elastics, which are just very thin bands. I don't notice the pony at all because of that, and my hair is fairly thick. That being said, it doesn't take much hair to make a ponytail. ...

Thanks, Rested Gal (AND Neversleeps) it's good to be back! I had no idea I could use *any* CPAP prescription. Heck, I already HAVE ONE from my last visit. He wrote me a new one to take to that center's DME so I could have my machine adjusted professionally. Gosh, I hope I didn't toss it out, though!...

The ComfortGel was a bad experience for me, and fitting it did little to allay the problems (though I tried a couple of times). It either leaked or left red, raw marks on my nose and forehead, even when properly fitted. Not to mention, it seemed to increase the occurence of acne in its general area....

I went on about the ComfortCurve at length, since I was (if memory serves) the first one on the forum to get one when it came out. I hated it at first . There's a dent on the wall next to my bed with that ergonomic design, baby. But I grew to love it, if only because I was so desperate for anything ...

Too High
My lousy first sleep doctor, when I complained of still not feeling well, refused to do a follow-up study. He wanted sleep diaries "proving" I kept good sleep hygiene (which I did, but he never really looked at). When I asked for a copy of my results, he patronized me, saying I wouldn't understand t...
