A post by blarg (fellow mouth-taper) this year about how he was now able to use a chin strap caused me to try a chin strap again. Miracle of miracles, it worked this time around. I think it may be because three years of taping finally let my tongue acquire the habit of staying in a leakproof positi...

The Fred Meyer on SE 39th and Hawthorne carries it as well. It's pretty easy to find.

No, it doesn't learn; you would need to re-program it. Yup, that's completely right. It just reacts as it sees events. If you want it to function in a different range, you need to program in that range. 90% pressure is a complicated issue, but: remember that the 90% pressure is the pressure that el...

On the high end, you're going to see aerophagia and pressure induced centrals. On the low end you'll see hypopneas and apneas caused by pressure that's too low. For the high side that means excessive daytime gas/bloating/pain + not feeling as rested, and on the low side that means not feeling as res...

One of the best things you can do, IMHO, is to start reading about the different features. Has he been diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnoea? Has he been titrated yet?

You can learn a lot about the process and what he's getting into from people and places that aren't trying to sell you something.

In my experience, most mask tweaks of any kind tend to be specific to that mask. Hopefully people will share what works for them with their mask. Certain FF masks like the Hybrid are highly dependant on correct adjustments to minimise leakage.

Chin straps will only work for you if your tongue will seal off the pressure when your mouth is closed. I have a massive tongue, so it works just fine for me. Frankly, they're so cheap, I would say you might as well try and see if they work. I use the Respironics Premium Chin Strap: https://www.cpap...

Email customer service. They'll tell you where you can get them. They were great when I moved from the states to Australia.

Re: Interesting observation

The Quattro has the big rubber thing that lays on your forehead. I got 2 of the worlds worst zits right there. Looks like 2 hornets stung me. Sounds like you need a micro fleece forehead pad for it. I'm not sure if the Quattro has the same forehead pad as the Activa and UMFF, but if it does, this i...

Re: Worldsleep07

6) There was a poster which showed that the upper airway collapsed differently in a group of OSA patients during sleep. There were several patients in which the posterior movement of the soft palate (AND NOT THE TONGUE) resulted in airway collapse. This agrees with previous work indicating that air...

The american branch of ResMed probably is. Either way, I wouldn't say that american press is the most concerned with accuracy of the bunch.

I prefer my unit conversion widget in my dashboard.

And you can add your own units to it:

Well that or just using google. Search for "3ft in m" without the quotes and you'll see what I mean.
