Ok guys, as promised the official version:- Unless you have a very SEVERE respiratory problem you will not die! The head ache is either from the CO2 retention, or from the effort involved in/side affects of snoring. What I didn't realise here was that with a severe OSA you will retain some CO2, perh...

Hi again, I am the guest by a proper name! Thanks all, this is all getting very interesting. Will :- One thing that I did not see mentioned in the thread is the effect Acid Reflux and GERD can have on cpap therapy. You really gave me something to think about there, I now get awful indigestion in the...

Bob, I hope you don't take anything I'm saying as my being critical of you or how any person chooses to go about their own treatment. We each have to make our own decisions and consider what we think is the best advice....for us. Whatever you, I, or anyone do regarding cpap treatment, I hope we all...

Ah, no, the more important bit is that I am in the UK and the NHS is providing, hence no knowledge of DME's (and the occasional weird spellings ). I had a very basic sleep study, basically I wore the finger tip device to determine if and when my blood oxygen levels were falling and how often. This w...

OK I don't just wear it for four hours, I wear it as long as I can, but as long as I have had 4 hours with it I am happy. I am only repeating what was said to me, others may well be different. I will ask the questions directly the next time I see my people. I DO NOT suffer a headache when I wake up ...

Thanks folks, I thought it must be a stateside thing, but I really wasn't sure Luckily for me I didn't have to deal with all that, but the down side is I don't really get much choice, I think... Having said that, this is all early days, as I've been away on a long holiday and business, I have not ye...

Dental Pain

Has anyone experienced generalised dental pain? I seem to have developed a condition where by if food puts pressure on my gum immediately behind my front upper teeth my whole jaw goes into a spasm of severe dental pain. I cannot associate this pain to any one tooth, in fact it seems to centre above ...

I was told for CPAP they calculate the pressure based on the circuference of your neck and the number of events during the night. Apparently here in the UK it is based on a study using autotitrating machines in the Oxford Sleep Clinic.

In my case the condition is not life threatening, I was told I had a medium level of problem. Also, here in the UK it is the good old NHS, they don't have to worry about insurance companies. I think if you look you will find that it is thought that 4 hours of quality sleep a night is the required am...
