Re: Understanding readings

I am reading that the CPAP does not treat sleep apnea it just allows the patient more O2 to sleep better. Either you're reading the wrong stuff, or you're misunderstanding what your read. CPAP does not cure sleep apnea, just like glasses don't cure short sightedness. Do read Sticky--Newbies-PLEASE-...

Re: Selling Used Equipment

I have a used ResMed S9 that I would like to sell. Does anyone have experience selling to secondwind? If so, what should I expect as far as an offer? Or is there a better option? It is a fully functional machine with humidifier and carrying case and has 9,358 hours of use if that helps. Thanks I ke...

Re: Too much brain fog to sort this out - heading in right direction or no?

Is there an acceptable way to do all night saturation tracking at home? Yes, and that's what I was suggesting. Professional recording oximeters can be given to the patient for a night to check for their oxygen saturation. That is neither a sleep study nor a titration. You can buy a consumer grade o...

Re: Medicare requires repeated new split study? After 15 years of cpap use.

I seem to only have mild apnea compared to some of you, only 83 AHI. It has been 13+ years since my split night study. 10 years since my Complex apnea study. I agree that Kaiser is a good place to go to die. I bought a used Resmed Aircurve ASV last October and my Medicare Advantage plan reimbursed ...

Re: Too much brain fog to sort this out - heading in right direction or no?

Your maximum pressure is too low for when you need it. Look at the way your flow limitations and snores drive the pressure up to 15 (or - any lower max) and it sticks there, without improving your breathing. On the charts you posted, these indications of obstruction appear about 1.5 to 2 hours after...

Re: Please help me on my situation

The doctor gave it up due to obstructive sleep apnea. My AHI was 21.5. He said you don't need an Auto CPAP, CPAP is ok for you. If you ask why 7, I do some experiments on pressure and EPR. I tried 7 yesterday with 3 EPR. How did the doctor diagnose the obstructive sleep apnea? How did he decide on ...

Then why is your machine at 7?
And why did the doc give you that machine?

Re: Please help me on my situation

How old are you?
What's your weight?
Who prescribed CPAP and why?

Look at the change in your chart starting at 4 AM.
1) There's a sudden drop in how much air you're breathing
2) This gets even worse at 5:30 and you start snoring.
3) You also start leaking at the same time.

Re: Journey to Optimizing my CPAP Settings!

Will moving to min 9 really make a big difference? I am considering that positional apnea maybe a big issue. Thanks for the info! Yes it will. The median pressure reported by your machine is usually close to 9, which means you're spending half the night at 9 or above. That also means that, for the ...

Re: making adjustments

When I get up to go to the bathroom, sometimes it takes a long time to get it right on my face again. I think it's OK and then it's not. This can go on for quite awhile. That's what bothers me. Don't take the mask off when you go to the bathroom. Use the tube's elbow quick disconnect to leave the h...

Re: making adjustments

OK, so for real, how much leakage is typical and nothing to be concerned about? .....ANY leak (no matter how big or how small or how prolonged) is unwanted IF IT DISTURBS SOMEONE's sleep. What she said: .....ANY leak (no matter how big or how small or how prolonged) is unwanted IF IT DISTURBS SOMEO...
