The only way I can get the Comfort Gel not to leak was to tighten the straps to the point of leaving pressure marks on my face. I find the Swift Nasal pillow much more comfortable. I am going to try the Hybrid as soon as I can get Medicare to pay for it. I hope you can find a comfortable "fit" soon...

Re: Perverse incentive systems

[quote="Claerwen"]If you can, figure out a way to get an APAP with smart card and a smart card reader. Over time you can adjust your settings to the optimal for your situation. Much better than relying on one night of titration undertaken in an unfamiliar setting with equipment that you've never wor...

Re: Remstar M Series

Can Someone tell me how to raise my setting from 4cm to 6cm on my machine rjgreen3 Are you talking about the low setting for the ramp button? If so, open the lid to show you the little screen and press the plus sign for "setup." Then press on the arrow (either direction) until the display shows the...

Re: New to forum, great cpap experience

Wow, you had such a great experience! Quite a contrast to mine. I had to go on two separate nights, about a month apart (long story), and after the CPAP titration there was no follow-up with me whatsoever. A week later my PCP's office starts calling me, wanting to know how I'm doing with the CPAP ma...

[quote="snoregirl"]If you really want your prescription and the doc doesn't seem to respond let me suggest the following that worked for me. I know work can get in the way, but if you dedicate one day to it I think there is a high probability of it working. GO in the morning as the office is opening...

Re: Waking up too many times?

When I am sleeping I am dreaming a lot more than I used to be and I don't appear to be tossing and turning as much. However I am waking up 5-10 times a night. I am coming to full consciousness. I have been on CPAP for about 2 months now and my experience was similar to yours. I'm getting better now...

If you have just started, I think it is normal to keep waking up - I have been at this for 5 months and do recall the first few weeks waking up - think it is just how foreign everything is at first, coupled with actually getting sleep I know that after a few weeks when I adjusted to the mask and ai...

[quote="sleepless_in_ny"]The Comfort Gel was my second mask tried. All in all I have tried at least 7 in the past year. The Comfort Gell is up there for me. The Activa is running a close second. . . . So you really have to take all the input and then take a shot, if it works great if not try somethi...

[quote="Vader] For *me*, the Comfort Gel in particular offered ZERO comfort. I would rate it as the very worst that I've tried (I still have a scar from it) But one thing most reasonable folks believe is that ALL masks are quite a personal preference thing. It seems that almost every one is equally ...

It is common knowledge here on the forum that the majority of masks with "Comfort" in their names provide no comfort at all. From time to time you'll hear from people that like them, but the majority of users don't. Unfortunately, a mask is a very individual thing - it's hard to tell what you'll act...

I *think* the Hybrid mask allows you to wear glasses when it's on. I'm sure someone with more information will add to this. Thanks! I've started to print out information on a bunch of different masks so I can possibly try a different one as soon as insurance will pay for it (new mask every three to...

Any experience with Respironics ComfortGel mask?

After a week, it looks like the process of adjustment to this thing is going to take a loooong time -- like months, not weeks. Meanwhile, my years-long average of 4 to 6 hours' sleep per night is not likely to change any time soon. Instead of helping me sleep, the CPAP machine (REMstar M Series Plus...

Now that you mention it, I've noticed that too. Maybe it's because the unmoisturized area is covered by the mask and is getting nice warm humidified air blown on it all night (?). Maryb Good point. Still, maybe I will want to find out whether I can switch to one of the nasal pillow-type masks down ...

I have noticed that the areas of my face that covered by the mask don't seem to need the moisturizer any more. I use moisturizer under makeup during the day and on spots that are not near the mask at night. The first couple of days my face was very dry where the mask covered it. Now 2 months later ...

Face washing and moisturizer

I'm a newbie and have only used my CPAP machine for four nights. I'm grateful to have found this board because it is a difficult adjustment. (I have to check the exact names of my equipment before I complete my profile. I have one of the REMstar M Series with C-Flex and the integrated heated humidif...
